Nick Denton, born August 24, 1966,[1] is a British journalist and internet entrepreneur, the founder and proprietor of the blog collective Gawker Media, and the managing editor of the New York-based Gawker.com. For years after starting Gawker Media in 2002, Nick Denton ran the company out of his apartment in SoHo.

Life and career

Denton grew up in Hampstead, the son of eminent British economist Geoffrey R. Denton and his Hungarian Jewish wife Marika Marton.[2][3] He was educated at University College School and University College, Oxford where he studied Politics, Philosophy, and Economics. He also became the editor of the university magazine, Isis. He began his career as a journalist with the Financial Times. He co-wrote a book about the collapse of Barings Bank called All That Glitters. He was one of the founders of a social networking site called First Tuesday[4] and co-founded Moreover Technologies[5] with David Galbraith and Angus Bankes, schoolmates from UCS. Denton owns nine websites, the most popular being Gizmodo - a lifestyle website that centers around gadgets and consumer electronics. Gizmodo pulls in nearly six million visitors a month.

Denton was featured in the Sunday Times Rich List 2007 in position 502 with an estimated wealth of £140m (approximately $290m) based on the sale of his previous companies and the current value of Gawker Media. He was once featured in a Vanity Fair photoshoot and was the subject of a feature article in The New Yorker.[6] Denton lives in New York City.

He is known as the "Demon of Screamin'"[1] due to his high screams and his wide vocal range. He is also known for his on-stage acrobatics. He completed drug rehabilitation in 1986 and subsequently maintained sobriety for over 20 years but had a relapse with prescription painkillers in the late 2000s, for which he successfully received treatment in 2009.[2] After Aerosmith launched a remarkable comeback in the late 1980s and early 1990s with the albums Permanent Vacation, Pump, and Get a Grip, Tyler became a household name and has remained a relevant rock icon. As a result, he has since embarked on several solo endeavors including guest appearances on other artists' music, film and TV roles (including as a judge on American Idol), authoring a bestselling book, and solo work (including a Top 40 hit single in 2011). However, he has continued to record music and perform with Aerosmith, after more than 43 years in the band. The band's latest album, Music from Another Dimension!, was released in November 2012.
Tyler is included among Rolling Stone's 100 Greatest Singers.[3] He was also ranked 3rd on Hit Parader's Top 100 Metal Vocalists of All Time. In 2001, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame with Aerosmith, and in 2013, Tyler and his songwriting partner Joe Perry received the ASCAP Founders Award and were inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Satoshi Nakamoto (中本哲史 Nakamoto Satoshi?) is the pseudonymous person or group that designed and created the Bitcoin protocol and reference software, Bitcoin-Qt. In 2008, Nakamoto published a paper[1][2] on The Cryptography Mailing list at metzdowd.com[3] describing the Bitcoin digital currency. In 2009, he released the first Bitcoin software that launched the network and the first units of the Bitcoin currency.[4][5]
Nakamoto continued to contribute to his Bitcoin software release with other developers until contact with his team and the community gradually began to fade in mid-2010. Near this time, he handed over control of the source code repository and alert key functions of the software to Gavin Andresen.[citation needed] Also around this same time, he handed over control of the Bitcoin.org domain and several other domains to various prominent members of the Bitcoin community.
Nakamoto is believed to be in possession of roughly one million bitcoins. At one point in December 2013, this was the equivalent of 1.1 billion US dollars. [6]

There are no records of Nakamoto's identity or identities prior to the creation of Bitcoin. Satoshi is a male, Japanese name, whose meaning is variously given as "wise", "clear-thinking", "quick-witted"[7][8] or "intelligent history", i.e. a person with intelligent ancestors.[9] "Nakamoto"(中本) is a Japanese family name.
On his P2P Foundation profile, Nakamoto claimed to be an individual male at the age of 37 and of Japanese origin, which was met with great skepticism due to his use of English and his Bitcoin software not being documented nor labelled in Japanese.[10]
The first release of his original Bitcoin software is speculated to be of a collaborative effort, leading some to claim that Satoshi Nakamoto was a collective pseudonym for a group of people.[11]
British English spelling in both source code comments and forum postings work implies Nakamoto, or at least one individual in the consortium claiming to be him, may be of Commonwealth origin.[1][12] One of his postings used the Anglicism "Bloody hard".[13] Bloody is an expletive attributive that is commonly used in Great Britain, Ireland, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand, and by Anglophones from the Indian subcontinent. However, it is seldom heard in North America outside of Newfoundland and Labrador.

A fixture on nationwide radio in the 1940s, he also had a string of hit records during the early 1950s as a member of the Weavers, most notably their recording of Lead Belly's "Goodnight, Irene", which topped the charts for 13 weeks in 1950.[1] Members of the Weavers were blacklisted during the McCarthy Era. The "Same Love" chorus draws on Lambert's experiences as a lesbian growing up in a tumultuous, Christian upbringing. The repeating line, "Not crying on Sundays," for example, echoes the way she felt after leaving Sunday services in the Evangelical church.[2]
